Yeah, I know. When I first encountered prim toes at a concert a few weeks ago, I felt the same way. They seemed a shiver creepy, although I couldn’t place my mental finger on why. Our entire paper doll playground is composed of artificial things - why should prim toes be anything different? There’s probably a long process about the relationship we attach between reality and our avatar representations, but I’m not up for that just now. Instead, I’ll squee.

J’s Shoes has a small variety of shoes with prim toes, but I’m betting this will be one of those trends that takes over, so I’d look for more soon. These “Ankle Belt Sandals” are the closest to a dressy option (but then, most dressy shoes aren’t open toe). They come in black or red and are scripted to provide you with multiple nail polish colors and different styles of toe rings. More importantly there is an RBG and brightness adjuster to match the color of the prim toes to your skin. In future releases, it would be nice for the dressier options to somehow allow for stockings, but that’s obviously a phase 2 of this innovation.

These gathered wedges come with similar script options as well as the pictured anklets, so bonus! They also come with a black wedge option if you don’t like the cork.

There are also a variety of sandals, boots, and other shoes at J’s that are prim-toe free (in case you’re still a little freaked by the fake toe thing). These laced-up sandals will make you lament that Summer is drawing to a close (although hey, it’s SL, what care we for seasons).
Alas, I will be waiting and hoping for open-toed mules ala my favorites from Lassitude & Ennui and some of my real life goodies. I’ve never liked platforms and I’m not a huge fan of ankle straps. But I’m digging the prim toes enough to enjoy these babies for now!

You know that your shopping experience at Datenshi Creations is going to be a little bit different the second you arrive. It takes a moment to rez, as you find yourself in a playful little open field beside flowers and a wishing well. Slowly, as your surroundings take shape, you realize you have to choose a shopping direction - one of the two more traditional little storefronts, the giant teapot, or the slightly spooky Victorian house further back nestled amid the trees.
Well, kids, it doesn’t matter which one you pick first because there are goodies behind every door.

Door #1: MUWU. This outfit is appropriately titled “Painting Madness” and I’ve been enjoying the hell out of it. It’s such a simple concept, and yet the look feels much more creative amid the glam dress up craziness most of us swirl in. The prim rolled-up cuffs add charm and detail to a the casual pairing of top and pants and the tattoo layer gloves of paint stains are another little wink.

Door #2: Kuroi Hane: If gothtastic lotita stuff is your thing, this is your place. I know this first outfit “Ichigo” looks like the uniform of a Strawberry Shortcake ice show skater, but it’s got incredible detail and it’s just so damn sweet. It comes with parasols for each hand and has oodles of prim details from the puffy bell sleeves to the belt and stocking ties.

The black “Hinata” is far more mainstream goth lolita. Both dresses have incredibly good prim skirts with great movement. The textures are top-drawer here. You can always tell how skilled a designer is by checking out the black textured items where shading and detail becomes far more challenging.
More after the cut!

I don’t know about the general shopping population of SL but I will never, ever have enough shoes in my inventory. Yes, I have oodles of pumps and slingbacks, but each time I see new shoes - I want them. All of them. Especially when they’re this good.

The Juicy label of shoes is limited to two types right now (just the yummy yummy pumps and yummy yummy slingbacks) but the sculpted shapes are top-notch and the texture sheen is luscious.

There are a variety of colors all of which are available separately or in different bundles. Did I squee yet? Can you feel the squee?

Okay, so the heels are break-your-neck-in-RL high and some of the color selections have a stripper pole kinda edge to them, but they’re also fun and flirty and while the L$500 a pair price might make a few take pause, the L$2950 pack of 20 colors brings the per pair cost down to under L$150.
Besides, it’s SL. You know there’s a bright orange cocktail dress out there somewhere.

Lyra Muse of Jaywalk fame (and previously of Last Call’s Covet and Vamp lines) IMed recently to tell me she’d named a pair of boots after me. Which immediately made me nervous, because the last thing I think I had named after me was a hopelessly complex playground game I came up with way back in grade school. (Please, don’t ask.) Though after that, I figured that no matter what a pair of virtual boots has to be an improvement, right?
But before we take a look at the boots, let’s get one thing straight. Believe it or not, I do have some standards, and I’m not going to review something just because a designer plays to my considerable vanity and names something after me. Really! I don’t care what you name Kit, unless it’s something that is well-designed and textured and would have caught my eye anyway even if it were named Ralph, I’m not gonna feel obligated to say one nice thing about…

…oooooh. (drools) Nevermind.
These are the Kit boots from Jaywalk, shown in Buttercream with the optional black straps, and I love them. Some of you are no doubt asking, “Boots? Really? You do realize it’s spring, right?” Yes, I do, and I don’t care. But if you’re going to make a stink about it, fine, we’ll come back to the boots, and I’ll find you a more springlike shoe from Jaywalk first.

Here we are. These are the Lissana in Black, and are actually from Lyra’s old Vamp line at Last Call, but have been brought over to Jaywalk with her. The sole and heel are sculpted prims and have a really nice shape to them, and the wood texture just makes me think of warm weather. It’s such a cute shoe that it makes me overcome my revulsion to how truly awful my avatar’s toes look.
I really like a lot of things about this shoe - the little bit of a platform, the line of accent color running down the back of the heel. But the one thing I absolutely love are the cute bows on the ankle strap, from which two adorable flexi prim ribbons hang down. Yes, it’s a small accent, and no, you probably won’t see it from far away. But you never know who will be camming around the room examining your shoes when you’re out and about. What, you don’t do that? Oh, well then, neither do I.
All right, back to the boots. Jaywalk is selling the Kits in an array of twelve colors, but there are way more options than that, because each color other than Onyx comes with either same-color straps, or black straps. So you basically get two pairs of the boots for the price of one. The Onyx boots, on the other hand, are sold individually or in a fatpack with twelve different strap colors. So, for example, below is the Onyx boot with Onyx straps, as well as the same boot with Pink straps, which you can wear if you’re feeling a little more daring.

After the jump, more pictures and a little more about the boots, because I apparently have no shame. None at all.
