Wanted: Low Prim Divas

Filed under: Editorial, Hints & Tips — Salome Strangelove @ 4:49 pm

While planning the LL Ball it has come to our attention that prim lag can put a serious cramp in the style of a good party. Bri and I have been dashing around like escapees from the local loony bin looking for low prim fabulousness - when it occurred to us that generally our readers are the best possible resource for such information.

Give us the 411 on where to find the lowest prim good stuff, gang. What is the best low-prim hair? Shoes? Accessories? Is there any non-prim jewelry out there that is not the suck? Inquiring minds want to know. Not only will it help attendees of the LL Ball, but it will provide a good resource for modest prim events in the future. It’s a good cause - really! (Okay so it’s not going to prevent glaciers from melting or anything, but it will stop SIMs from crashing.)

And hey - if you want to add a flickr photo of your low-prim goodies that would be the pink of perfection!

Get Yer Oirish On

Filed under: Hints & Tips — Sabrina Doolittle @ 1:21 am

I’m pleased to be working with Ham Rambler of the esteemed Dublin sim to be hosting this year’s Irish Blog Awards in Second Life. The event will be run in-game concurrently with the real life event this weekend on Saturday, 3 March at 11 am game time, 7 PM Irish time.

The event will be simulcast to the real life awards night in Dublin, and winners will be announced in-game as events unfold. Our Second Life guests will also have the chance to represent real-life award winners and accept an Irish Blog Award on our red-carpet podium, which should make the most bizarre SL party favour ever given out.

The evening will feature live music from Irish band Callahan, plus contemporary Irish rock and dancing all night. There will also be an Irish-themed pub quiz with prizes, copious amounts of alcohol and food, and fantastic gift bags for all attendees. We’ll also be awarding cash prizes to the best costumed attendees, so while you can come in boring black tie and ballgowns, we enourage you to get creative and wow your fellow guests!

It is going to be a great evening so if you’re Irish, looking for a Euro-timed event or just want an excuse to break out your costumes, ballgowns and tuxes and come along to a fun themed event, please register for tickets now. You must join the group Irish Blog Awards 2007 to attend, and joining costs $150L - basically, that’s the ticket price. Access to the event will be limited to group members only, so please be sure to join and stay joined until the event is over!

pimping pwnd

Filed under: Freebies, Hints & Tips — Sabrina Doolittle @ 3:03 am

OK so following on from the Valentine’s Concierge Party (8 sims and like 8 million people!) Salome and I hauled the LindenLifestyles.com crew to the opening bash for pwnd magazine. The theme was white and the crowd looked like the most stylin’ crew of Columbian drug lords and LA hookers you ever did see.

I showed up in chic but there were drinks and the next thing I knew I was wearing nothing but a thong and in the dancers’ box:

What? I'M WEARING WHITE!

What? Shut up. I’m wearing white!

So yes, the pwnd crew can throw a mighty fine party (Schmooze is an awesome venue) and as a bonus they put out a seriously good mag, too. Its the twisted, delinquent love child of co-editors Haver Cole and Saeya Nyanda, and this month’s issue is an in-depth look at the lives of alts. Its well worth a read so pick one up or you are just not cool.

In fact, you’re probably wearing teal or something. Ewwww…

Valentine’s Run-Down

Filed under: Editorial, Hints & Tips — Salome Strangelove @ 7:00 am

My monitor is dying. I am currently looking at SL and everything on the web at 40% brightness and 35% contrast. Sometimes, just for fun, the screen starts expanding and contracting. It’s a fun house mirror of hellish eye strain. I’m going blind as I type to post this entry. As such it’s ridiculous for me to try and explain what anything looks like on me. It looks blurry and dark and miserable. It’s a student art house film gone terribly wrong.
Newegg has promised my new *grumble* flat-screen monitor will be here by Wednesday, so entries are going to be kind of creative on my side of the LL bed.

Below is a listing of Valentine’s releases as they were sent to me by the creators who answered my request for items. I have not seen the items. This is not a review. It’s a sight-unseen listing of baubles with basic descriptions as provided with the emails I got.

Enjoy.
