I Survived WWI…and I liked it!

Filed under: Accessories, Bottoms, Clothing, Skirts, Tops — Chastity Vandeverre @ 5:35 am

It was time to go. It would be a dangerous attempt, but I had to try. The night air was cool and still. The muted sounds of gunfire could be heard in the distance. I peeked out from the doorway and looked up and down the street. All appeared quiet. It was now or never. My heart raced as I stepped one foot out into the street. My other foot followed and I paused, looking again up and down the darkened roadway for any sign of movement. I had to go. It was just at the end of the block, I could make it.

Pushing off from the doorway, I sprinted through the silent air. My footsteps echoed through the walls between the buildings lining the street. I was making too much noise, but I couldn’t stop now. I’d already made my presence known if anyone was looking. I continued my run, breathing hard.

Was that someone in the shadows in the alleyway I just ran past? Couldn’t risk looking back to see. My destination was close ahead. If I just kept running I could make it.

Another sound, off to my left. I’ve been seen for sure. But I’ll make it. I know I can make it. Only a bit further and I’ll be there. I dove forward and ducked behind a barrel. I made it, but they could still follow me in. I looked around quickly. I was told this place would have something for me that I needed. Then I saw it. An image on a wall. I knew this was it…

…and it was sexy, too!

Oh wait! What? WWI stands for Worldwide Industries?! Ummm, please disregard the frazzled kitty that dove in. Nothing to see here!

Worldwide Industries, created by Minde Mills and Ichibod Etchegaray, offers sexy designs, great texture work, a little bit of dirt, and of course, barbed wire. The top and skirt in the above outfit come from an set called, “Mad Plaid”. It comes in a pack of Tan, Green, and Red colors. The socks are “Boyfriend Socks”, in the dirty variety, yes you can get them clean, too. The pack of these include tan, black, red, blue, and green. And the barbed wire leg warmers are called…wait for it…”Barbed Wire Legwarmers”. I combined these with some boots from Ambush. They’re called “Cossack Boots” and they also are a must have for every dirty kitty out there. Hey, when you enjoy cleaning yourself so much, you need to get dirty, right? Riiiight??

WWI isn’t all about showing some skin, they do have quite a few outfits and tops that are simply delightful and covering, but today I’m not that girl. The triangle bikini top shows a nice hint of underboob, which is simply adorable. I mean, come on. The skirt comes with a nice little set of glitch-shorts, which are well hidden by the skirt itself. So much so that they aren’t even required, unless you’re the prim and proper type. I would even venture to say that there are those that like to wear panties underneath as opposed to gitch-pants, for that bit of sexiness. Not that I’m saying there’s a market out there for glitch-pants-less skirts (*nodding vigorously*), but it’s great to come across some good ones here and there.

Look at those lovely socks, too. Take what would normally be a knee-high sock, pull it up to your thighs, and dirty it up a bit and you’ve got total yum.

Another outfit here is called “Fallout Kitty”. Even though I only show you the pink version, it comes with a grey set as well. Again, lovely texturing. As you’ll notice, the colors are never bold and bright. Everything has a faded look to it. They’re beat, up, they’re grungy, they’re delightful. Hey, if it looks comfy, it’s comfy. This set comes with a pair of barbed wire cuffs, too. Just what I needed to go with the leggies! I’m no Wonder Woman, but I’m betting they’ll fend off anything I don’t want going on…which reminds me, I need to take those off!

Why Why Why Why Why Why Why!

Filed under: Bottoms, Clothing, Skirts, Tops — Chastity Vandeverre @ 8:48 pm

I ask you! Why? Why? WHY…did I choose that for a title? Was that rhetorical? I don’t even know. So, all you readers out there (and you know who you are), today we take a look at a lovely find called Y7 by Yenta Semyorka. Now you see why? Yes, of course you do. (just play along with a courtesy chuckle, ok? kthanks)

I came across Y7 rather randomly one day, and have been a fan ever since. This is a somewhat unique place, for which I have a bit of a love/hate relationship. The clothes are very nicely done. Nearly everything is offered as a separate. Take the below outfit. The tank and skirt were in separate packs.

Y7-1

This is lovely work. The tank looks soft and comfy. It’s got a little punky flavor to it with it’s alert symbols and “No One Cares” printed on the front. The skirt is great. I love the textures from the printed belt to the pattern on the skirt itself. In the photo I’ve worn the lace version, which has a second skirt layer underneath that’s…wait for it…lacy. It comes without the lace as well, if it’s not your thing.

Y7-2

Here we have a great little hoodie set. This pack comes with three hoodie varieties. In the photo I’ve worn two of the options. One has the kittie on the front. The other has the “Marine Pollutant” sign on the back. The texture on this is really amazing, though my one complaint is that the hoodie itself could use a little work. It’s not horrible, but it’s a little too simple for my liking. Still, it works.

The pants also are from a Y7 set. The pants come on both the pants and underpants layers, so I can wear them tucked in, which I adore. The texture work is incredible with the fading, patterns, and a little fanny shading.

Y7-3

This outfit are all pieces from the Y7 Vagrant line. The top, skirt, and attachments are all from separate packs. There are a few other packs in the Vagrant line, such as pants and leather attachments, but what you see suited me just fine. Again, you just gotta love the grungy yumminess. Yes, I said ‘grungy yumminess’! And you still gotta love it!

Okay, this is where we come back to that part where I said I have a love/hate relationship.

Hexbound

Filed under: Bottoms, Clothing, Outfits, Skirts, Tops — Chastity Vandeverre @ 8:26 am

Hello again, Linden Lifestylers! Did you miss me? (this is where you nod your heads) Great! Glad to see everyone’s in agreement. Well miss me no longer. I’ve got more to talk about today. This time we’re going to let Kya Eliot cast her spell on us and take a look at Hexed.

Now, before we get started, let me mention that there are two stores: Hexed and Hexed Alt. Hexed Alt is more of the kittified version of Hexed, though officially stated as “Alternative/Punk/Gothic”. I’ll just use “kittified” for short. They’re both in the Hex sim, so they’re both easy to find. I trust you will all be able to make your way and explore the whole place. It’s quite a wonderful sim, too.

Ok, ok. I’ll get on with it!If there’s one thing I love, it’s stripes. Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! Well consider me got. Kya’s Hexed Alt store gives us the prefect neko gear store with all sorts of mix-n-match pieces, which include stripey sleeves, that go with her matching tops. You’ll notice that I have an affinity for blue, but there are a variety of colors available.

Striped Cami

Before I go on too much, let me tell you what else I love about Hexed. You get each item on multiple layers. Oh we just love layer options, don’t we? Yes, yes we do. This allows all mix-n-matchers to mix-n-match to our hearts desire. But the joy doesn’t stop there. Each item in Hexed is available as mod/copy or mod/transfer. So whether you want it for yourself (and I *must* have copyable clothes!) or to buy for a friend, the options are wide open to you.

Above, you will find two packs. Striped Cami and Striped Sleeves. The sleeves come on the jacket, shirt, and undershirt layer. Ironically, they aren’t on the glove layer. But I’ll live. As you can see in the above photo, while the box is called “Striped Cami”, you receive a plain version as well. Again on jacket, shirt, and undershirt layers. Yum!

Classic T Heart

Hexed’s Classic T Heart box comes with each style shown, cropped, short, and long. And each on the three tops layers. All for L$150! How wonderful is that? I love the textures Kya puts into her clothes. They have just the right amount of detail, just the right amount of shading, just the right amount of love! And what you see is so not all there is. You’ll find a grunge version of these tops as well. Which just means they’re dirtier. Why I didn’t get those, I don’t know. Oh, but I will!

Now before I get too far, I’ll remind you all that the above two are from Hexed Alt. Hexed is more “mainstream”, for lack of a better word. There you will find many lovely items, such as this outfit, called “Mirela”.

Mirela

Mirela is beautifully done, with lovely soft textures. The skirt is tea-length (at least on me!), and is still not done with any alpha. Thank you! Not that I’m against alpha layers, but they’re definitely tricky and can be annoying. I would like to see a little more shading under the collar of the jacket to give it a little bit of depth, but I can nit-pick at times. I still love it.But this is not the end of it. Ohh no! Get back over here and finish reading this. Then you will be dismissed and can go about your shopping.

V-Day: Not For Sissies

Filed under: Accessories, Bottoms, Costume, Dresses, Formal, Jewelry, Lingerie, Outfits, Shoes, Skirts, Tops — Salome Strangelove @ 3:50 am

It always starts out so innocently. I think to myself: “Self, why don’t you trot around the grid a bit, ask a few designers for some samples and do a little collection for readers to enjoy…”

Two days and six hours in Photoshop later, my eyes are bleeding. But it’s all so pretty….

(Click on images for the full-sized images on Flickr - although you’re likely to be tired of looking at me after a few).

comp01 400

For whatever reason, Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays that brings designers to the table with some of the yummiest goodies. I suspect the romance market in SL is always a sure bet, so why not put your best foot forward?

comp02 400

I ended up shooting over 100 images (most of which are after the cut for blog sanity purposes) from more than a dozen designers because the goods just kept on coming. My inventory is weeping, but it’s hard to complain with such sugar-coated delights.

vitamin c2 400

Vitamin Ci has one of my favorite V-Day dresses, simply called “Valentine.” Both the long and short skirt options have rich, detailed textures and the little prim broach is a darling accent.
