Shiny Spring Shoes

Filed under: Clothing, Shoes, Spotted, Wedding — Sabrina Doolittle @ 1:49 pm

Normally I have to try stuff on before I blog it, but here’s the thing with Shiny Things: whatever Fallingwater Cellardoor makes, you know it’s prim perfection. You don’t need to try it on; you just need to buy it, immediately and in enormous quantities. Damn that woman.

Anyway, I was delighted to find that Shiny Things finally now has a blog, and it’s about freakin’ time, too. I was even more delighted to find these two new releases - because I am all about the shoes:

Above are the delicious Boho sandals, which are an incredibly intricate and beautiful example of an item in very short supply for spring and summer wear. Trust me, just because you can wear stripper heels with your shorts and summer skirts doesn’t mean you should. Sandals are really a much better bet. They come in four colours, perfect for casual summer clothes.

But it’s these little darlings that really take the cake, and will shortly take all of my Lindens, too. Slim and elegant, festive and floral, they are already my new favourite heels because I am in love not only with the shape, but the gorgeous flower detailing.

Currently they come in black and pale pink, but! Bridal alert! They also come in white and cream, and as far as I’m concerned are the best wedding shoe on the market. Fally says that if they prove popular, she’ll do them in additional colours. Those of us not getting married any time soon will no doubt be very grateful.

The like us! They really like us!

Filed under: Spotted — Sabrina Doolittle @ 10:35 pm

Like Alice down the hole, we’ve been sucked into the Linden Labs PR machine along with Second Style as a listed website on the new Second Life Fashion Landing page:

landingpage

The page features a design from Ginny Talamasca, my personal fashion crack dealer, so I’m down with that choice. She’s also the star of a downloadable two-page “Diary of a Digital Dress Designer” which is a quick and beautifully produced overview of the fashion design process and the opportunities for clothing designers in Second Life.

The download appears to actually be a print flyer, though I have no idea where it’s being distributed. I also have no idea how the landing page is being used, or how any of us were selected. I certainly have not been having it off with any Lindens, and if Salome’s been shagging Jack behind my back, I’m going to be very miffed indeed.

But as it is, we’re pretty chuffed. We’d like to thank God, the Academy, and all the fashion designers and readers who make this blog possible…

Seriously, it’s very cool. Thanks, Linden Labs!

One Hell Of A View

Filed under: Builds, Spotted — Salome Strangelove @ 9:16 am

Wow.

A friend recently found a random patch of artistry in SL called Liferain Park. It is breathtakingly spectacular. I was astounded at the virtual vistas it provides.

liferain1

As far as I can tell it is the brainchild, blood, sweat, and prims, of one Shack Dougall and if the place doesn’t leave you utterly enchanted then I can’t imagine what would. I spent the majority of my visit murmuring things like “wow!” and “oh, wow!” and “Holy WOW!”

liferain2

The description says it’s a work in progress that is open to the public, but if you do a find places for it, the TP-in position is awful. I suggest a direct TP to coordinates: BonnyDoon 165, 45, 650. It will place you about a lookout perch that has a passage into a chamber of waterfalls just beside it.

I’m not sure what the final altitude of the park will be (although the idea of moving it on the whole down a few hundred meters is enough to make my head explode). Right now it is 600m in the air which means you can’t really fly and getting around is a bit of a pill. In this case, however, waiting for rez, and enduring the pain of moving around is completely worth the effort.

I humbly suggest using the little trick of rezzing a prim box, sitting on it, putting it in edit mode, and using the arrows to move yourself around as you prefer (please remember to delete your prims after — the pace is just too beautiful to litter up with plywood cubes). Unfortunately, there are some places you just can’t seem to get to by other means.

Erm. Maybe that’s the creator’s intent. Let’s hope not.

Little Suzy Riding Hood

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Outfits, Spotted — Sabrina Doolittle @ 12:34 pm

While racing through SL the other day, I landed on top of a very small clothing selection at a skin store called Les Peaux. I have no idea if its the same creator as the skins or if there is a bigger selection of clothes from this designer elsewhere, but these dresses look absolutely charming. Having decided that I’ve blogged quite enough plaid for one lifetime, I didn’t buy them, but now I’m having second thoughts.

This is the hilariously named Suzy Muffkins dress, which comes with panties, tights, jacket and shirt options, plus two prim skirt options: mini and booty length.

And this is the appropriately named Kellie dress, which comes with all of the same items but appears to have a sightly different collar and neckline:

There are also black and white and burgundy striped versions of these dresses, so if anyone buys them, please let me know how fabulous they really are in the comments!
