Yeah, I know. When I first encountered prim toes at a concert a few weeks ago, I felt the same way. They seemed a shiver creepy, although I couldn’t place my mental finger on why. Our entire paper doll playground is composed of artificial things - why should prim toes be anything different? There’s probably a long process about the relationship we attach between reality and our avatar representations, but I’m not up for that just now. Instead, I’ll squee.

J’s Shoes has a small variety of shoes with prim toes, but I’m betting this will be one of those trends that takes over, so I’d look for more soon. These “Ankle Belt Sandals” are the closest to a dressy option (but then, most dressy shoes aren’t open toe). They come in black or red and are scripted to provide you with multiple nail polish colors and different styles of toe rings. More importantly there is an RBG and brightness adjuster to match the color of the prim toes to your skin. In future releases, it would be nice for the dressier options to somehow allow for stockings, but that’s obviously a phase 2 of this innovation.

These gathered wedges come with similar script options as well as the pictured anklets, so bonus! They also come with a black wedge option if you don’t like the cork.

There are also a variety of sandals, boots, and other shoes at J’s that are prim-toe free (in case you’re still a little freaked by the fake toe thing). These laced-up sandals will make you lament that Summer is drawing to a close (although hey, it’s SL, what care we for seasons).
Alas, I will be waiting and hoping for open-toed mules ala my favorites from Lassitude & Ennui and some of my real life goodies. I’ve never liked platforms and I’m not a huge fan of ankle straps. But I’m digging the prim toes enough to enjoy these babies for now!

Elisabeth Tinsley, Random Calliope’s Worthwhile Gallery Manager, asked me to share this piece of news with you. Since I know how wildly popular Random’s butterfly hunts are, I was more than glad to let you all in on it, even despite the fact there’ll be more of us out there snagging butterflies. Since I’m not one to redo anything that’s been done before, I’m a cuttin’ and a pastin’ his release verbatim. Happy hunting, everyone!

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, 10,000 Random Calliope Ode to Caledon butterflies will be migrating across the Second Life Grid. Hunters of the elusive Ode will be able to find the object of their hunt scattered throughout the green spaces of SL. Making a special debut for the Valentine’s Hunt will be the new Tutti Frutti colored jeweled Ode butterfly in a lovely mixed hue of ivory and rose.
Tutti Frutti, along with the other eighteen colors of Ode will be roaming free in abundance for the duration of Thursday, February 14th. Each Ode set is composed of eight separate pieces including a head ornament, earrings, necklace, pendant, brooch, bracelet, and ring.
Hunters collect sets by “catching” butterflies during the hunts, the only time they are available. Once released, the butterflies can be found floating high and low and hiding in all manner of nooks and crannies. When a hunter sees a butterfly the way to catch it and release its possible treasure is to click on it. Once touched the butterfly will disappear releasing its jeweled Ode piece to the hunter if it is carrying one. Not all butterflies contain piece of Ode. Approximately 1 in 5 butterflies will contain a piece of Ode and some of the colors, such as Shades of Golden and Platinum, are much rarer then the typical Ode sets.
Time Schedule for Ode Butterfly Hunts (all times on in SLT)

Landmarks to the hunts will be sent out to the Ode Butterfly Collectors group immediately before the hunt. To receive the hunt location landmarks please join the Ode Butterfly Collectors group.
We are also opening a new group for Ode Butterfly hunters through subscrib-o-matic so you can be advised of the hunts without forfeiting one of your 25 group spots. There is a kiosk for joining this group located at Random Calliope’s gallery in Ode ( ??). There will also be kiosks set up to join this group at each one of the hunts on Valentine’s Day.
The countdown has begun. Less than 48 hours until the grid erupts in Ode so get your net and prepare to come butterfly hunting!
Oops, the lm to Ode didn’t transfer over. Here’s the slurl http://slurl.com/secondlife/Ode/157/30/25
And the crowd who ran over to sign up had a hard time finding the subscrib-o-matic poaster. It’s the one that says ArtMuse.

When last I visited SS Creations they had a lovely array of jewelry that, while expertly crafted, just wasn’t my style. I also either didn’t know that SS stood for Simply Spoiled, or they hadn’t gotten around to deciding what the letters stood for yet
SS is the creative brainchild of Phia Vaughan and Sampson Suntzu, both of whom create some all-out stunning pieces. Lulling around in my inventory just waiting for me to find them were these lovely hair adornments:
The hanging hair frill on the left is a tri-cluster of diamonds with silver and gold tinsel-like strands wafting down which are flexi so that they sway gently as you walk. The strands of silver or gold for the two on the right and in the middle are not flexi (and, thus, I prefer them) but end in a sparkly, non-bling dangle of square and heart-shaped diamond ornaments. Admittedly, they were a little tricky to get placed in my hair (all hairstyles are different) but mostly that was due to the fact that my damn blue arrow kept disappearing. Once in place, however, they are just darling — and I am *so* not a heart-shaped jewelry type girl.

What I really fell in love with, however were the new pearl sets. This is the “PearlDrop” necklace and earrings. There are also matching bracelets, belly bands, etc., but as we know I am all about the necklaces and earrings. The necklace is exceptionally well done in both this pearly pinky white and the black, but the earrings are -To Die For- as far as I’m concerned. They are composed of a yummy diamond stud with three pearls dropping down, separated with delicate chain work. The black is a must-have for every SL wardrobe:
The “PearlDrop” earrings also go stunningly with the regular Pearls set which includes the choker (above) and the knotted long strand (below). The choker and knotted pearls are on different attachment points so you can wear them apart or as a pair. Basic jewelry staple, faboo chic.
I could go on and on listing the jewelry sets that I loved in the store, but you’ll have to get your fanny over there and discover your own favorites. Before I go, however, I’ll leave you with this last stunner. Meet the “Chosen” set:
I have to say this is one of the most unique sets I’ve run across in SL jewelry making. The square fetishes with inset diamonds, the dangling accents - the detail is jaw-dropping. It comes in both gold and silver and has brothers and sisters of bracelets, anklets, etc when you buy the full set.

Do you ever have even virtual days when you don’t want to get dressed, don’t want to worry about your makeup, don’t want to go shopping, don’t want to spend money, don’t want to talk to anybody and basically just want to lounge around the house weeping into your hanky and occasionally throwing crockery for light relief?
I am having One of Those Days and could barely be bothered to blog until I found the totally rockin’ Missing Image sets at Boneflower Designs. First of all, the idea of missing image clothing just appeals to what little is left of my sense of humour, what with all the ZOMGWTF?!?! shenanigans SL has been up to lately. Second of all, these items are free. Third of all, they are so, so, so good:
This sweats set is actually sold as unisex, and comes with three different t-shirts from cropped to regular guy length, so they are one of those unisex things that is actually unisex. And look! look! at how bloody good the highlighting and texturing is on the bottoms!
For the chics, there are also free undies, which come with both a solid and a sheer version included. I love the little scalloped detail on the bottom hem. Were it food, it would be cookies and I would eat it. I would happily pay perfectly good money for these, so the fact that I get to just have them makes me all kinds of happy.
Speaking of freebies, I should point out that the eyes I’m wearing here are also freebies, from DarkSkye Designs. These are the GreenBlue colour, and there are several other free ones on offer:
They are photorealistic, which a lot of people do like. But I have to say that one place I don’t particularly need photorealism is in my eyeballs. While yes, I want real looking pupils and corneas, I’m not sure that the whites of my eyes need to realistically depict quite how hard-living the 90s were for me and my entire history in rehab.
In other words, these are really realistic, and actually an excellent study of the anatomy of the eyeball, but I prefer my whites to be white. If you like that extra step in photorealism, though, be sure to get get ‘em because they are indeed beautifully free.
