Last weeks pick, “Industrial 2″ is a great example of urban grrrly punk, by Flanner March:

One of the things I noticed when I took a closer look at this picture was the Nylon Pinckney skin. I don’t see too many hand drawn skins on the grid anymore, which is kind of sad in a way, since hand drawn skins have their own charms. The Minnu hair is simple and looks like it has just blown a bit in in Flanner’s face which I find very natural looking.
The fur trimmed jacket from DP is girly, but somehow it also says “Don’t mess with me, I can kick your ass.” The skirt is what first caught my notice; it is a simple windowpane pattern, but it pulls all the other elements together. The final element are the Shiny Things boots — a very common sight on fashionistas — but that’s because they’re classics on the grid. Overall, Flanner looks like she’s giving a head motion to a friend and saying, “Hey wanna head to the Donna’s concert?” Uh huh, yeah, let’s go rock the grrlpower.

This week was a difficult one, too many great pics! Thank you, readers, for all the incredible submissions and please keep them coming!
It’s spring, so when I saw Sunrise Fairy by Brandy Rasmuson, it immediately went to the short list and was eventually chosen as this weeks pick.

Most don’t know this, but I do have a weakness for pretty wings, even though I don’t often wear them myself. These are just a touch tattered, which if you’re flying around and actually doing stuff, would probably happen. But one thing people do know is that CCC loves Fleur, which Brandy is wearing (though I’d go with a Natural, but only because I don’t own the Blossom set yet). If you’re a pretty fairy, you just have to have flowers in your hair and all around, which Brandy does stunningly. I also like the rich black hair in contrast to all the springy sylvan goodness. I also found it striking that Brandy opted to be a plus-sized fairy, which is unusual to see in SL and adds an old fashioned pastoral/cherubic highlight to the photo. Finally, the Windlight sky effects add that bit of color to the background that gives the scene it’s final kick. A very well done shot by a particularly lovely fairy.

This week’s pick is by Fann Hyun. I love this Japanese wedding kimono — it’s tinted pink (fresh for Spring) and classically beautiful. I love the the folds on the wrapping of the kimono top, though I’m not knowledgeable enough about the style to know if they are accurate by traditional standards.
I also like the Minnu Model skin that lends the bride her “special day” glow using simple, but pretty makeup. One of the nice things about SL is the ability to wear clothes like these, that one might never get to wear, or even see in RL. The location for the photo was a good choice as well, and one of the reasons this photo “popped out” at me.

Today’s Flickr Pick, which is mostly “on time”, from Luna Jubilee just “clicked” right off with me. It’s a great shot of casual pretty accessorized perfectly. Notice how her sunglasses are hooked in her pocket, and how the colours of her shoes and bag coordinate with the colour of her blouse but are not all matchy-matchy. Brown is an unexpected color for spring, as is the red lipstick on the Chai skin, but it all “just works.” The tousled hair is a good choice for spring as well. Little touches like those can make a great looking ensemble, simply stunning.
