Friday Interview: camilla Yosuke of Insolence

Filed under: Interviews — CronoCloud Creeggan @ 10:46 pm

Yes, there is an interview this week, with camilla Yosuke of Insolence.

LL: How did you get started designing and how did you name your business?

cY: I discovered SL totally by chance. After a few days wandering around, I understood how it perfectly fits with my previous experience in 3D and graphism. Actually I started with really few cash, and comparing my poor freebie feet with the shoes girls had all around me, and with what I could see in stores, I didn’t wait any more and started with making a shoe pair for me. About the name ? Well, I spent hours finding something untaken, and that could sound good and great…I hate finding names ^^

LL: What were the early days of your business like? What have you learned since then?

cY: When I had these first shoes made for me, I rented a tiny shop in a friendly mall, and everything started. I still have this tiny shop, and will never let it *** sigh *** My first lingerie items slowly allowed me to rent a bigger one, then another, until the day I had the awesome luck to be blogged by a famous designer — Hi there !Smoochies !! — She really opened me the door to something serious and I’ll never tell her enough my gratitude ! I learnt tons and tons !! If I should pick two important things, I’d say I discovered how to adapt usual 3D techniques to SL, which in so many ways is…odd … and how the fashion world turns here. I don’t pretend mastering it, just I have a much better glance at it now.

LL: What are your favourite items in your store at the moment?

cY: Definitely, the Louise ensemble is my little baby. I spent hours with pleasure on it, everything is hand painted, I embroidered the lace parts day after day. A very nice moment, like quietly knitting besides the fire. Very good to empty one’s brain.

LL: How much of what you do is driven by what you personally want to create vs what you think the market is interested in buying?

cY: Well. About lingerie, I really make what I’d love to have for me first. Of course I always try to keep in mind what people would like, what would really seduce girls, but basically its my taste first. About skins…well I’m a stubborn girl. I’ve been creating these only listening to me first. But I kept having feedback on various aspects, every single day someone told me about something they’d love to see different. I’ve been sulking in my corner, thinking hey, I love these this way, until a good old friend recently kicked me in the ass, locked me in the workshop until I changed things to answer everyone’s request. A big kiss to her.

LL: Where do you enjoy shopping in SL and what other designers’ clothing do you wear?

cY: Oh I still wonder why I only discovered Nyte’n'Day this month. I truly love this kind of clothing, very everyday like, but absolutely delicate and fresh. This is really my kind of stuff. I’d kill for a RL Nyte’n'Day !! I also love DE designs and Naughty . Both have truly sharp, high quality casual wear. I’m really amazed at many other’s work, but I guess I feel better in jeans and shirt !

LL: Is Second Life a full-time job, a part-time job, or a hobby for you?

cY: Someone recently told me ” You know you should do like these guys in the Space Station, 1 hour muscles and cardio training daily, or you’ll run into severe problems…. ” SL is a FUUUUUUUUUUULL-Time job ^^ The good part is that I truly love it. What could I expect more ? It sustains my life, and I’m having real fun everyday ! —-a voice from the opened door “will you leave this and come swim ?!? ” —-”yeah sure wait I finish this interview and I—-ACK !! no ! stop ! don’t bite ! ok ok I come”

Weekly Roundup: HOT to TROT

Filed under: Roundups — Daisyblue Hefferman @ 5:43 am

The releases of the past week have cut through my lindens like a hot knife through butter. When you see all the wonderful choices, you’ll be in hot pursuit of them, I’m sure.

Aleri Darkes, Diversity Hair, did 2 hairstyles for the ladies, and, hot on their heels, 2 more for the men. Six Kennedy, GuRL 6, did two more hot stuff hairstyles, Rumour, and Ashley.

Neferia Abel, Ivalde, added a new series to her new skinline,The Dryads. These come in several skin tones and are lovely. Her previous new releases were redone also, and some of the originals are still available at a reduced rate. She also blogged a big clothing sale going on until Aug. 31. 100 outfits, from 50 to 100L$, and will be gone forever after that.

Miriel Enfield was too hot to handle this week. Pick up a nice pair of freebie earrings from her, and take a look at her medieval releases. She’s done both a hairstyle and a lovely gown, Lene, in that style.

Antonia Marat, Artilleri pushed my hot button with her Vicky dresses. Simple buttons down the front shirtwaist dresses, they give a great retro look, especially in polka dots. You’ll have a hot time in the old town tonight with Canimal Zephyr’s Streetwear 2 Collection. Tons of pieces for that edgy look. DoC Eldritch, DE Designs, has a hot potato for us this week. Bellissima, a gown, Boho tiered skirt and nicely done top.

Camilla Yosuke, Insolence, struck while the iron is hot. She upgraded all of her former skins, with new makeups, and some major fixes. Already lovely photosourced skins now have the neck smear and blemish issues gone forever. The breasts and nipples are improved, too. These skins are now scorchingly hot! Stephen Lightworker, RealSKIN, added more skins for both men and women. Starley Thereian, Celestial Studios, announced that her Deviant Nation skins are again available at Last Call, and also added 2 hairstyles to her own store.

Betty Doyle, Ingenue, has a hot and sultry, but sweet, 50’s style prom dress, Sandy. She also added 2 more colors to the original 4. Alienbear Gupte, Alienbear Jewelry Designs, has a hot treat for us this week. 10L$/set of pearl necklace sets. I want all four. Caliah Lyon, Muse Jewelry, introduced a Chinoiserie Fan Collection, necklace and earrings sets . These look like a hot ticket.

Shoe-wise, Rowan Carroll, She’s so Unusual Shoes, added sizzling furry mules, and buckled mules, to her collection. Hot on her heels, Lyanis Sin offered sculpty pumps. Siyu Suen, Illusions, was not all hot air when she’s promised plain full-face masks. Her Volto Puro, with all-white, blacks, moltens, variations, are flaming.

Oh, and Marleen Vaughan, Marly’s, has me all hot and bothered over her reproduction of an original Courreges 1966 mini-dress, named The Cookie Caper. OOh la la! Kitridge DeSantis, Kitchy, is looking forward to Fall, and has a nice, soft, wool dress , a hot opportunity.

Ciera Bergman, Vitamin-Ci, wants you to get Wyld. It’s a fishnet shrug, mini skirted outfit that will have any guy smoking. Ginny Talamasca, Last Call, gifted us this week with a free dress and shoes. They’re spectac, and this week’s hot ticket. This just came in hot off the presses, or at least hot off Blaze Columbia’s computer. His 17 piece Summer Reprieve is just blazing with summer color and magic.

Weekly Roundup: Flying High

Filed under: Roundups — Daisyblue Hefferman @ 4:30 am

I thought I’d have to search high and low for new things this week. It’s high summer, and everyone’s taking time off, living high off the hog. But it seems many of our designers are still riding high.

The high point of the week in fashion has certainly been skins. I’ll try to hit the high spots for you. Tete a Pied, Roslin Petion and CJ Carnot, are at an all-time high with the long awaited release of their new Vivant skin line, in a preview of them by Gillian Waldman of Deux Looks . They are simply wonderful, and come in a vast array of shades, styles, and makeups. Nefaria Abel, Ivalde, went into high gear and designed her first line of skins. Named for Egyptian Goddesses, Nereids, and Viking Myths, each skin comes with a notecard describing the mythology, and have exotic, beautiful faces. They can be found in the basement of her store. Alaska Metropolitan, Opium Skins, released her new Skin 2.0 Options. Tintable, they also allow for some changes to makeups. She also has a free shape, Erin available at the store.

Canimal Zephyr and Starley Thereian of Celestial Studios have been up to high jinks and collaborated and adapted Canimal’s Glow Makeups for Starley’s Vogue Skins. Starley’s also added her gold and glitter sets to the Vogue line. Stephen Lightworker,RealSKIN, offers sweet Krista skins and shape. In case you’ve been looking high and low for a Marlon Brando, Marilyn Monroe, or Audrey Hepburn-inspired shape, your hunt is over. Hedwig Martynov, Va Va Voom, has those and more.

Pasha Korvin, Korvin Kreations sent me her exceptionally fun to wear SupaStar Bangles. They have other textures to change their colors/appearance, and I even added some of my own textures to really customize them. I rarely wear bracelets, but these got a high-five from me.

supastar

As usual, Marleen Vaughan, Marly’s sent me into high giggles. She named her new dress and hair Beetle Bailey, but I assure you, you won’t look like Beetle in it! Antonia Marat, Artilleri, did tops, tops for men and tops for women, after returning from the high tourist season. Blaze Columbia is running high with the release of a beautiful gown, Debonair, that has a pleated skirt, skirts as only Blaze can do.

Six Kennedy, GuRL 6, made it a high priority to release two new hairstyles this week. Caroline Apollo, Lo Lo, has me hopped-up over her naturals jewelry collection. I love the sculpty beaded ones. For you guys, no more looking high and low for nice Surf Shorts. Macsnob Halasy, MAC Designs did some absolutely fantastic, looser-styled ones. He also has some very well made polo shirts, but he’s new, so not got them blogged. Both items come in many different style/color choices. You can see them at his store at Delphinium Island.

Last Call’s Ginny Talamasca put me on high alert with their Catwalk Collection. 7 outfits, 3 pairs of boots, and gothic religious jewelry will have you in high spirits. Designing Nicky Ree blew me sky-high with her new Nicole Vintage Collection. Finally, a Period suit in all it’s glory! Here’s the full line in aqua, which I hightailed it right out and bought. The velvet texture is amazing, and her seams are absolutely correct for the period, too. You can buy separate versions of the different outfits, too. But I wanted it all.

Nicole+Combo+-+Aqua

Tracy Scofield, Encore, is at an all time high with plaids. This set, Working Girl, has a wonderful off the shoulder cowl neck sweater, along with a great plaid, belted, pair of slacks. Perfect for your fall wardrobe. Tuli Asturias is in high voice with her release of Carryn, a nice casual outfit for the coming season.

It’s high time for some shiny things from Fallingwater Cellardoor, Shiny Things. She’s not disappointed, with her Glass Chunk Jewelry, all pieces sold separately. Britneyj Crimson, Second Mirage, offers a nice silver cat necklace with jeweled eyes for all of us cat lovers out there. Siyu Suen, Illusions, made it a high priority to get out more Harlequin items. so, welcome to a jester’s wand, gloves, boots, and bard shoes with long, curled toes. Delicious!

sachi Vixen, Adam n Eve, did her own roundup for us. She can hold her head up high, with skins, hair, a lovely dress, and wonderful shoes by Damen Gorilla. Especially check out the gorgeous bridal shoes. Look for a newly designed store from them soon, come hell or high water.

PixelDolls is giving away another great freebie. A leather like bustier and pants in 8 colors, and gloves. Find it to the right in the Port Seraphine store. Jolie Lumiere, Jolie’s Boutique, blogged a half off sale until Sept. 4. Lucas Lameth, Earthtones Boutique, announced his summer sale, with many items at 50% off. Emma Gilmour, Sand Shack Surf Co., is having a sale to help repair her damaged laptop. High drama there.

Weekly Roundup: Out of This World

Filed under: Roundups — Daisyblue Hefferman @ 1:26 am

With all the great new releases this past week, I’m sitting on top of the world. There’s just no end to the shopping I’m going to do, hitting the four corners of our world.

Calico Ingman at Calico Creations offers the best of both worlds with 2 new hairstyles made of sculpty, regular, and flexi prims. There’s one for the ladies, and 1 for the men. They are both offered at all 80 colors for 10L$! I picked up Heather, and like it a lot. It’s a small world after all: Hairstyles by Tami McCoy released Lil Gurl Babycakes, a precious hairstyle especially for little girls, who may need help reading this, too. Laydi Bailly, Hairapy, has Carmella for us, a new shorter do.

Strappy and poppy color change sandals represent a world apart from Accessories by Eolande’s usual designs. She also has a new store, and added the subscription update choice to that of her update group.Lux Yao, Amaretto, is going to set the world on fire with her new collection, Couture Cocktail. With 8 yummy creations, here is a sample, Georgia Peach. Such a lovely color. 12 more promised by October!

Charlotte Morellet, Soda Designs has a new collection of sparkle eyes, if you want to send a certain guy into orbit. Bryce Tully, Bryce Designs, has a Strawberry Shortcake Avatar. Wear it and look like you don’t have a care in the world! Tuli Asturias offers some nice wooden heart and cross necklaces. Posy Trudeau, Miau Haus, is into Steampunk. Check out her grungy metal top hat with steam gauges, boots with a fire built in to keep your toes warm, and a great long coat.

Ciera Bergman, Vitamin-Ci, did a collection of bikinis to replace ones she retired. They’ll put you on top of the world. Natalia Basiat, DeFleur Fashions, will bring you to another world and time in one of her medieval gowns. 4 Colors, 2 skirts, means lots of options there. Abby Coalcliff, Devilish Cupcake, has a whole bunch of new Sweet Tees. Cute, clever, odd, she’s done em all. Marly Vaughn, Marly’s, adds Honey do Wrong. In this getup, you can get away with almost anything in the world.

EMJ, Elexor Matador, can go off on his vacation without a care in the world. He’s earned one with his newest creation. The Heirloom Gem Changers set, a 1400’s inspired choker AND necklace set will make you the envy of any in the realm. With pearls connecting the gems, he’s engineered it so you can change to any one of 17 gems! White opal and citrine are new gems for him too. It’ll also make a world of difference in your inventory.

DoC Edlritch, DE Designs added another gown to his Whispers Collection - Colline. It comes in red or gold, the colors of an in-world sunset, and has a nice floral design to it. Canimal Zephyr, just back from a trip to London, enters new territory with her humongous Emo collection. If you’re a fan of that alternative style, this is the place to go. Neferia Abel, Ivalde, brings what she calls a “pinstripe package of perfection.” A narrow striped, and very slimming, 1950’s dress, it will do you a world of good to be seen in it.

Caroline Apollo, Lo Lo, offered a V Shaped Necklace and Earrings, whose gemstones sparkle like the cosmos. She also has set out a free set of wooden bangles. Alla Ruff, Veschi, coming up in the world, did Furbulous, a cute outfit with a funky fur flexi skirt. Kitridge DeSantis, Kitchy, released Rhinestone, a nice cocktail dress.

Dakota Buck, Savvy, has a whomping big release of separates for girls. Last Call and Moderno had a new mega release for all the world and his wife, Pacifica, sexy casuals. There’s also jewelry, shoes and opticals for both sexes. If Maria Gherardi, MG Fashion, keeps up with making outfits like the Maria, then she’ll have the world at her feet. I love the several color combinations, and ran right out and bought this one, but I really want the mint/light brown too.

ETD’s Elika Tiramisu has announced a coming switch to the Subscribe-o-matic System for updates, no more group to join, and you still get all the news and goodies. Sounds wonderful.
