I’m having some trouble vis a vis the last update staying logged into SL, which obviously makes it difficult to blog. To get this resolved at a time that works with my real life, I’ve been calling the US support number from Ireland. (You can call a 1-800 number from abroad if you’re willing to pick up the charges, which I am.)
On the two occassions when I’ve rung, I’ve never actually reached a human being. Both times, I’ve eventually been routed to a rather dismal voice mail “please leave your number and we’ll call you back” excuse for technical support instead of, say, actual technical support. This has happened at noon and at 5 PM PST at a tech support number supposedly open from 9 am to 6 pm, but whatever - there is an upside.
Because when you’re on hold at Linden Labs, you don’t get recorded muzak. You get little Linden infomercials. And the one I keep getting is Jack Linden, talking about the LindenX.
There may be others, but I do not care. Because Jack Linden is British, and has the most insanely sexy accent in recorded history. Having lived in the UK for seven years, I’m somthing of an expert on swotty British accents, and this one is hubba hubba.
Should I ever get through to an actual human, there’s every chance I may forego my technical support issue and just say “Sorry, would you mind popping me back on hold? I was just in the middle of, umm, something…”
For the love of God, someone please podcast this boy. Knickers around the world will thank you.
UPDATE: Apparently my crabbiness was a little premature. The USA 800 number posted on the SL website runs over VOIP and the people at LL can see my call but can’t pick it up (although they have been trying) probably because of some tedious VOIP issue. The delightful Cyn Linden provided me with a direct dial number and fixed my billing issue and says this afternoon’s update will hopefully also fix my crashing issues. At this point I’m perfectly willing to drop Jack (although she reports he’s rather tasty looking) and shag her instead - that’s how weepingly grateful I am.

haha, hands off woman, i have had my eyes on him for much much longer!

He’s on Radio Linden as well for a segment or two. You might want to hang around the welcome area more often so you can listen in. We’ll all understand if you’re “afk”.

I heard they were more like jaffa cakes.

Haha, Ingrid!
Damn, I must listen to him now, I proposed to him once in the Welcome Area, he used such decorum in turning me down! Bless his heart.

HEY, I think i was the first to propose to him, I just sent him a partner invite for fun one day. He was very good at turning me down. Damn him and his charm.

I heard he had an affair with the Queen. It went sour when she refused to wear the combat boots and nipple rings.

He should have taken Barnes up on his offer then. I hear he already has the nipple rings and combat boots.
But then, so do I, so dealer’s choice really

Bah, I’m barely a day into my vacation, and already you’ve found a new stalking target… women are such fickle creatures!

[…] The download appears to actually be a print flyer, though I have no idea where its being distributed. I also have no idea how the landing page is being used, or how any of us were selected. I certainly have not been having it off with any Lindens, and if Salome’s been shagging Jack behind my back, I’m going to be very miffed indeed. […]
