I am not a toys and gadgets kind of girl. In SL, I find that unless it involves clothes or live music, I have the attention span of a mackerel. Oh, look! A shiny thing…
One of my friends who shares my attention deficit disorder is Kiki. So when Kiki showed up in roller skates and was unable to have her av stand still for more than two seconds, it didn’t phase me. When she kept the damn things on for a solid week, I saw a blogging opportunity.
Yes, having this blog means I have some of the most UNDERSTANDING SL friends in-world. They never bat an eyelash as I make them perform for me while I shoot photos of some new item. And they’re consistently patient and helpful when I mutter the now-dread words: “Oh! Where did you get that?”
Seriously, be glad you don’t know me.

Kiki is in love with her roller stakes in a manner that I only reserve for lingerie and heels, but I have to admit, they more I see her in them, the more they grow on me. She has even taken to editing the mod/copy/no-trans gadgets to match her outfits.
It should be noted that out-of-the box their color scheme is pretty basic Microsoft Windows System blue and while they’re ready-to-wear for boys, us gals do have to resize them a bit. Out of box on a boy, they look something like this:

If all they did was animate your av into a basic skate movement, that would, in itself, be a charming way to spend your L$50. Tell me the below image doesn’t take you back to roller disco memories:

But the skates also come with a few tricks that you can use to play around and combo.

And, if you have a resourceful friend who knows how to build you a half-pipe, well then you’ve got twice the fun:

I am not a skater and I’m not good with toys. I fiddled with my skates for about 5 minutes and then I got distracted by an IM that contained the words “Summer dress.” However, if you’re a toy person like my other friends, then I can promise you these things are L$50 well spent. Kiki hasn’t taken them off in over a week, and this is a woman who alters her hairstyle by the hour (in other words: one of us).

I love those skates! The ice skates are even better if you can get over not skating on actual ice. I painted mine bright pink and break them out for fun all the time.

Ooo I love my skates. Every once in awhile I go on a road tour and travel on my skates. I feel so much like Tootie from Facts of Life when I wear them.

I got a pair the other day and modded them to by shiny pink. Soooooo disco. I love how even the animations are heavily based on what the wearer wants– they could easily be sold for 5 times more.
