Persenickety!

Filed under: Accessories — Salome Strangelove @ 6:54 am

Many readers have noticed that I started wearing different glasses shortly after I got back from walkabout. Seriously, people, it’s a little creepy when you notice stuff like that ;-P This entry is therefore not only overdue, but an effort to stop the IMs.

It’s not that I fell out of love with my previous glasses, even though, to the best of my knowledge, they cannot be found in-game any longer (insert unhappy sounds here). They still sit happily in my inventory, but they are no longer the apple of my eyes. One day, shopping innocently for a piano, I happened upon Persenickety! and my virtual eyeballs, fickle as they are, found a new love.

Above are my new favored specs, in a style simply called “Courtney.” I cannot squee loud enough about their shape and style. Creator Persephone Milk designs eyewear in the real world and her understanding of form and function are an absolute payoff in her products. I love the subtle little gems on the frames. I love the sleek oval shape. I love the tint of the frames. The basic “no bling” Courtney style simply suits me right down to the ground right out of the box. But it has many brothers as sisters for those of you who don’t share my fancies.

For something a little more fun, the Emily style makes a classy statement. Like all the Persenickety! styles, they come in packs of 10 different color combos and styles, but all of Ms. Milk’s glasses are mod- and copy-friendly so you can edit and match them to your heart’s content. The majority of them have bling installed as a default which you can turn off by typing “no bling.” However, because she’s a star, Persephone also includes a basic no-bling pair in each of her sets. The above pre-set is called “Pink Lady” and I think is particularly charming in the Emily.

persnick glasses megan

For a little more “get back, honkey cat” type mood, the square Megan fashion can’t be beat. I love this white with rubies pre-set which is so very superstar. This semi-frameless look doesn’t suit my personal inclinations, but they’re great fun to play dress up in.

persnick glasses shea

The Shea are another semi-frameless look that are FABULOUS as darker sunglasses and unobtrusively sublime in their basic out-of-box state. The texturing and detail is particularly significant in glasses like these because you can see the ends of the frames through the lenses. The realistic effect is subtle, but indicative of why these glasses stand out in craftsmanship.

persnick glasses jonathan

The Jonathan is a more masculine style with larger lenses and bolder frames. I like these as sunglasses, but I prefer a much more subtle, sleek look for my everyday glasses. I’m just attached to my slimmer girly ovals. But you just can’t look bad in a pair of these puppies.

persnick glasses monica

I have to admit, I’ve saved the best for last. When it comes to glamor, the Monica glasses have it *all* going on. They are out-frickin’-standing. If Marilyn Monroe were in SL, these would be her glasses. The three-gem accents are tres chic and while the chunky frames work no matter their settings, they utterly rock when used with funky contrasting colors. The pre-sets are an absolute delight and once you start tinkering with customizing them, you can create your own cream-worthy fave.

To *die* for, I tell ya.

All of these glasses come in 10-pack sets with different color combos for L$250. They also come with some OUTSTANDING documentation. As a consumer I love it when creators give me lots of information about their products. I might not always RTFM at first, but if the manual is there to refer to, I’m happy. It really shows a respect for your work and your customer base when you take the time to have the proper support documentation and it’s not done well or enough by creators in SL.
Did I mention that ALL of these glasses are MOD and COPY. So they can be altered to match your mood, your outfit, your pet dragon or you’re Aunt Fanny’s knit scarf?

The customization level on these items is really a consumer’s wet dream. You can wear them (as I have in ALL of the above photos) fresh out of the box, or get to changing details in any of the “zones” designated by the design. So you can change the lenses, frames, jewels, etc all individually and fiddle with colors, shine, transparency levels…I tell you it’s insane. At some point I think they even walk the dog for you, but I’m not that far into it yet.

So if you’re a girl (or boy) who feels undressed without your specs, you’ll definitely want to trot over. Hell. Even if you just want another pair of sunglasses. Or two. Or fifty.

  1. You have a dedicated fan base that notices everything. We see all. Just don’t stop wearing glasses, it freaks us out when you don’t wear them.

  2. Salome, thank you so much for taking the time to review my glasses so thoroughly. And thank you for your kind words. It has been a real treat to see you wearing one of my styles on your blog for the last month or so, and even more exiting to be reviewed so positively on your site. One small correction … I am no longer designing eyewear in real life. It has been a few years, and my current line of work isn’t nearly as fashion oriented. But it gives me great joy to be able to bring a part of my real world experience and interests into Second Life to share with others. Thanks again Salome!
