Junk in the Trunk

Filed under: Editorial — Sabrina Doolittle @ 2:23 am

I’m sure we’ve all had the amusing experiene of TPing from one local to another, and on arrival finding a shoe stuck to the bum. It happens. What had never happened to me before 10 minutes ago is this:

Junk in the trunk

I TPd home to find the following:

  • My hair
  • Two shoes
  • Two prim socks
  • A handbag
  • A set of bracelets
  • A pair of sunglesses

…all stuck to my kitty. Which, I hardly need say, has no cause to wear sunglasses at all.

I know these things happen. But don’t you think that Linden Labs could maybe find a more graceful default attachment point for stray objects? The idea of a hand, for example, comes to mind. Because this is virtual reality, after all, and while I can easily carry all that stuff around in my hand, there is just no way it would all…

Umm. Yeah. Meow.

  1. Is it just me or has it been especially bad since 1.14 too?

Cute hair though, too bad it’s now tainted forever as Sabrina’s Butt Hair :p

  2. Hahaha, this actually happens to me ALL the time. It’s very annoying, because I end up needing to detach EVERYTHING and reattach it all… animation overriders included. Quite annoying. :P

  3. I once tp’d and was wearing a nose piercing with bling. ONCE in my life bling is switched on. Guess where it was after the tp? RIGHT. I suddenly had a blinging kitty. In front of a dozen other people.

  4. That’s the first time it happened to you? That happens to me CONSTANTLY.

I don’t think other people see it like that, it still looks like it is attached to the correct spot to them. A blinging kitty… I WANT ONE! lol.

  5. what i heard is that things end up on the pelvis attachment point (and not, say, on the head or hand) because it’s the basis of the avatar skeleton. when the system doen’t know where to attach/ load stuff, it ends up on the “point 0″, the pelvis.

  6. God, yeah, that’s a regular sight for me, and I can only think it must be so painful for Siyu to be walking around with a stilletto heel up her unmentionables. I’ve reported it a few times, blleeeeh!! I’m going to be so happy when they fix that thing. Sometimes it irritates me enough to log out and in again :)~

  7. From everything I’ve heard and experienced, no one else sees it that way. And, if grid performance is up to it (ie, you’re relatively certain you’ll be able to get back in), relogging is the easiest way to fix it. Lovely, lovely bug. :-p

  12. Oh my goodness, yes, it happens to me ALL the time. One time when I detached the shoe (and it is NEVER just a shoe, it is ALWAYS at least five items, hair included) from my rear, several people in the club saw it left behind in the air.

The best part? You guessed it. It blinged.

  13. Consider yourself happy. I am a furry and *all* my attachment spots are taken by bodyparts. Nothing compares to having your HEAD stuck in your a$$.
