Liquid Velvet Studios

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Formal, Outfits, Suiting, Tops — Sabrina Doolittle @ 12:30 am

The second I walked into Liquid Velvet Studios, I IMd the owner to say “How have I never shopped here before? How was this tragedy allowed to happen?” To my surprise, RavenLynn Templar told me she had only been designing clothes for a few months. At which point my jaw hit the floor because the clothes in her store look so much like the work of an established, experienced designer.

RavenLynn’s goal is to cater to every event in your SL, from casual and dressy clothes to formals and weddings. And, ladies and gentlemen, she does business wear. As far as I can determine, there are about 10 people doing women’s suits in SL and seven of them suck. This Liquid Velvet Studios outfit is the best one I’ve seen:

vs1

I will be perfectly honest and say that the skirt has some issues: it has the standard Linden Labs waist fit problem, and some very slight white haloing at the bottom. I will also be honest enough to say that I do not care. The suit jacket is a friggin’ masterpiece, with discernable, beautifully shadowed pinstriping and collar details and a great cut. The discreet strapless black lace bustier underneath is equally gorgeous.

The outfit comes with two pairs of stockings: long semi-sheers that rise above the skirt hemline, and slightly shorter ones with classic bands on the top that stop right below the hemline. The stockings have back seams. The stockings have heel bows. The stockings should be taken home and eaten for dessert.

Also in stock is this really lovely non-prim, full-length satin evening dress:

This dress is class on legs, with beautiful shadow detailing on the bust and waist. Speaking of legs, it also has a side split that goes well beyond France:

And finally, LVS has something I’ve been seeking for almost all my virtual life: a men’s button down dress shirt, unbuttoned for a woman:

vs5

It comes with adorable boy pants underwear for chicks, but I like it better with regular knickers. They show off the hemline details better, including two really cute shirt tail clips on the sides. Why this style of shirt has been so hard to find, I have no idea, but I feel like I’ve found virtual wardrobe Nirvana now that this in happily living in my inventory.

  4. The shoes are Black Panther Stilettos from Sylfie Minougue’s Prim Seduction at Clay (187, 14, 149). I wear them without the ankle straps cos they’re much sexier this way I think :)

...but if you're looking for an item in an old entry or a store that has moved, please IM the designer if you can't find it. We probably can't find it either!
