Accessories by Eolande

When Eolande Elvehjem IMed me to ask if there was any particular reason she’d never been reviewed on LL, I was stumped. I wasn’t immediately familiar with her work, and couldn’t find anything readily stowed in my inventory to refer to. We get so many submissions and there are myriad reasons some get overlooked. Most frequently, designers disregard our submission guidelines in some way. Other times, the items aren’t really up-to-snuff for what our readers expect. And sometimes, things just get lost in the ether or misplaced amid the bric-a-brac of insane inventory chaos.

I have no idea why Eolande’s items didn’t come to my attention before, but I’m thrilled twice over that she took the extra time to nudge me.

This winter, Eolande has released a number of snowflake items that I really found charming. Above, the choker and large hair pin are in the “Aurora Borealis” multi-toned mother-of-pearlish option, while the pendant below is in the ever-popular gunmetal. The tiny stone in the center of the pendant has a color-change option which is conveniently driven by touch-menu and not channel commands. I think the use of winter images like snowflakes is a smart option for many designers because it gives us options that don’t necessarily lock us into holiday festive wear. Snowflakes are just as common in January as they are in December. Unlike, say, Santa hats.

Many of Eolande’s items are hair accessories - which are items I cannot have enough of. Some of these are lovely baubles that will accent most hairstyles like the Chinese Poppy Hair Pin. This comes in a variety of poppy colors, each with a chopstick-like hair stem which slips happily into most hairstyles.

(Read on after the cut for more Eolande treasures and where to buy information).

The Dragon Claw Hair Combs were big favorites of mine. So much so that I wish the small and large didn’t attach to the same spot by default so that you could easily wear them both (I hate reattaching to different locations from the item default - it confuses my widdle brain). These are really scrumptious, however, in all their available metals. Again, these are scripted with the touch-menu driven color-changing jewels.

Several of Eolande’s accessories are designed for a specific hairstyle (although they can be adapted for similar styles). A thrill-find for me was the Pearl Band which matches the ETD hairstyle Juliana. Juliana is such a classic style and I love how the simplest of charms can dress it up. While my inner tacky harlot does enjoy big! shiny! pretty! — I find that my greatest SL pleasure finds lie in the “dress down” and understated varieties.

But if you’re looking to stand out, the Headdress of Chains for Calla’s Lucerne is probably more for you. Over 500 prims in total spread between two separate pieces, it’s a jaw-dropping stunner in detail. I chose the gunmetal option (of course) and it fit around my Lucerne without a single adjustment, although I don’t want to contemplate fitting it to another style. The headdress also has Eolande’s color-changing scripts for the jewels.

If you haven’t taken a trip over to Eolande’s, I hope this entry leads you there because I’ve barely scratched the surface of all the goodies dangling from her fabulously accessorized walls.

  7. I love it when I discover that people I adore have met each other. I’ve recently discovered your posts, Salome, and I find that it’s best for my $L to read w/o being logged in to SL. But, it is much better for my SL style to read while logged in.

I was led to Eolande’s store by Neferia Able. I met Eolande because I had a question about a hairpin I purchased from her store. Eolande is easy to adore. Generous to a fault.

I’ve been wearing her snowflakes all season. I love the comments I get. One of my favorites: “Well it’s easy to see Eolande is a person of great taste.”

    Very very true!

    Enjoy!
    Have fun!
